Pleasing God Weekly
Staying Faithful When Life Gets Hard
Welcome back to Pleasing God Weekly! Katelyn and I are launching Season 4 of the podcast, and we’re beginning with a theme that’s very real to us right now: staying faithful when life gets hard.
Life doesn’t stop when trials come. In our own family, we’ve experienced both joy and challenge in this season as we welcomed twins into the world. That blessing has also stretched us, reminding us that faithfulness isn’t about everything going smoothly—it’s about clinging to the Lord when things feel overwhelming.
In this episode, we explore what it means to remain steadfast in seasons of trial and how God strengthens His people for endurance.
1. Main Reflection
Hardship isn’t an interruption to the Christian life—it’s part of it. James tells us to “count it all joy” when we face trials, because God is using them to grow us into maturity (James 1:2–4). The comfort is that we don’t walk through trials alone. God is faithful, and His Spirit enables us to remain steadfast when life feels impossible.
Faithfulness in hard seasons doesn’t mean perfection. It means leaning on God, trusting His promises, and taking the next step in obedience even when we feel weak.
2. Key Scripture
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
— Galatians 6:9-10
3. Practical Takeaway
Here are two simple ways to cultivate faithfulness when life gets hard:
Anchor your days in prayer. Even brief moments of honest prayer remind us that God is near and at work.
Cling to one habit of faithfulness. Whether it’s Scripture reading, journaling, or showing up for Sunday worship, let that habit keep you steady when everything else feels shaky.
4. Behind the Mic
Our family update this week is a big one: we welcomed twins! That means seven little ones in our home, which is equal parts joy and chaos. Katelyn and I share more about what this season has been like in the episode, but the short version is this—God’s faithfulness has been evident even in sleepless nights and crowded days.
We’re learning firsthand that “faithfulness when life gets hard” isn’t just a podcast title—it’s our daily reality. And we’re grateful to walk through it with His strength.
5. Resource of the Week
📖 When I Am Afraid: A Step-by-Step Guide Away from Fear and Anxiety by Edward Welch.
This short, practical resource helps believers move from fear to faith by leaning on God’s promises. If you’re walking through a difficult season, it’s a helpful companion.
6. Looking Ahead
This season of the Pleasing God Podcast will cover themes of discipleship, family life, church life, and living faithfully in today’s world.
👉 Next week we’ll dive into The Call of Discipleship—what it means to truly follow Jesus in every area of life.
